Granville Austin's Visit To Ekamra Nivas (April 1991)

Granville Austin (1927-2014) was an American historian of The Indian Constitution. His book "The Indian Constitution - Cornerstone of a Nation" is an authoritative account of the deliberations of the Constituent Assembly, and of the events that led to the framing of the Constitution of India. Sir Alladi's role in the Constituent Assembly on various committees and on the Drafting Committee is detailed in the book. Austin was awarded the Padma Shri title by the President of India in 2011.

In early April 1991, Granville Austin and his wife visited Ekamra Nivas. Austin wrote the following fine inscription in the Alladi Foundation Visitors Book: "To visit Ekamra Nivas is to reawaken the admiration and respect I have had for Sir Alladi ever since I began to study him." After returning to New Delhi, he wrote an appreciative letter to Alladi Ramakrishnan.
